Troy Pike Habitat and the Troy University Campus Chapter attended the 2007 Alabama Association of Habitat Affiliates (AAHA) Convention, Awards Banquet/Legislative Dinner March 26-28, 2007.
Many new contacts, friendships, and alliances were made at the convention which strengthened our position in the Habitat Community.
Besides just the great turnout of our members, a great many of them were very involoved at the convention. Dr. Christi Magrath and Nicole Nicholas addressed the Capacity Building Session at the convention.
Dr. Eugene Omasta, one of our board members was presented Volunteer of the Year Award by Dr. Magrath at the Awards Banquet/Legislative Dinner. Board Member and Campus Chapter member as well TJ Martin was asked to help greet the Legislative members as they arrived at the Awards Banquet/Legistlative Dinner.
The Campus Chapter again impressed the Habitat world partly due to their great participation in the convention, and partly due to the abundant energy they inserted into the sessions. I think they have garnered many invites to help with other Affilates across the state in their building efforts, as well as maybe even helping them get a Campus Chapter of their own started.
An effort was made, and I believe it was achieved, to have some Troy Pike Member attend all of the sessions.
